A New Community Bank Opening in Colorado Springs

new bank

Enduring multiple blizzards, scheduling setbacks, a pandemic, and tending to lots of little, important details we opened First National Bank Colorado at Flying Horse, a brand-new, state-of-the-art community bank at Highway 83 and North Gate Boulevard in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Why would we open our seventh office when mega banks are closing offices all across the United States? We want to be where you need us, when you need us.

You shouldn’t have to figure out every detail by pointing and clicking. And you deserve someone who understands exactly what’s going on in your community. We want you to have the option to point, click, and tap with our online and mobile banking or to walk in, grab a cup of coffee, and let someone who knows you, help you.

Our bank may be new to Colorado Springs, but we are not new to banking or Colorado. Our community bank was founded in 1901 in Las Animas, Colorado. We have five offices in towns throughout the fertile Arkansas River Valley. And we have been serving wonderful folks just up the road from this new Colorado Springs office since 2002 in our Monument office.

Why a new bank?

1.Local service and decisions.

Banking local keeps your money local. Those resources at a community bank stay in the community. Decisions are made with an understanding of the area happenings, challenges, and opportunities. A mega bank doesn’t know or care how our weather, crop yields, business expansion, or forest fires affect our daily lives in Colorado.

A community bank is there to serve the community. Our customers feel like family. We care about them and enjoy serving where we live.

2. Community involvement.

A tenant of our banks has always been, and will always be, our dedication to volunteering and serving our communities. We give resources, time, and talents to many, many organizations in our communities. In Colorado Springs we are eager to identify additional service opportunities while we already support the area schools, their teachers and administration, Pikes Peak United Way, National Education Service Center, our service women and men at the Air Force Academy, and Tri-Lakes Cares.

In the Arkansas Valley we support 4-H programs, the schools, scholarship committees, mental health programs, local programs, county extension opportunities, kids rodeo, veterans’ programs, first responders, churches, high school reunions, historical society, first responders, advisory boards, hospice, community care opportunities, and many others.

Our employees volunteered for over 175 different organizations in just the last three years.

3. Someone you can trust.

We will be here for you, day in day out, year after year. Our staff tends to join our team and stay. We think that says something about our bank’s reliability. We have a large percentage of employees who have been with us for over a decade and many who have been with us over twenty-five years.

Tina Eck, our Senior Vice President of Operations and Personnel, has been with us for 45 years. Tina helped make this new bank at Flying Horse a reality. Thanks, Tina! We believe the longevity of our staff shows our customers that we care about our employees and our customers.

Rhonda Koenig, Vice President of Operations, First National Bank Colorado in Flying Horse started with our bank in Las Animas where she worked for thirteen years before her family moved to Kansas for many years. We are thrilled to have her back in Colorado and on our team. You will love working with Rhonda.

With a community bank, your banker is your neighbor. We hire local folks who live in the community. They attend the local sporting events, eat at local restaurants, shop locally, and support the academics, volunteer opportunities, and uniqueness of each community.

You can trust us to be here for you.

4. Urban and rural knowledge.

Our bank has over 100 years of helping ranchers, farmers, small businesses, individuals and families. First National Bank Colorado is situated in the heart of rural areas and neighborhoods and planned communities like the award-winning, Flying Horse neighborhood.

We welcome the opportunity to continue to serve the agricultural families as well as their neighbors. It takes everyone using their special gifts to make a thriving community. We are proud to serve both rural and urban communities.

5. Growth.

We know Colorado Springs is growing. The secret is out and people are moving to our beautiful state in search of their “Not a Native But Got Here As Fast As I Could” bumper sticker.

Even though the Colorado Springs area is growing you shouldn’t be just a number to a bank.

You deserve personal treatment and a familiar, reliable face to help you whenever you need it. Options, products, and services need to work for you as your finances grow and change too.

Thank you to everyone in the Colorado Springs area for welcoming us and giving us a try. We think you will find us as a great place to receive rave-worthy, reliable, kind customer service.

Our principles of service and honesty haven’t changed since 1901; we’ve just added a few things including state-of-the-art banking options with a nationwide ATM network (ATM fees may apply) and a mobile app. But one thing will never change: we are here for you.

We look forward to seeing you!
